Catla (Scientfic Name: Catla Catla; in Bangali: ‘কাতলা’) is considered
as one of the most desired species of fish to catch by extreme anglers.
It requires a much higher level of angling, passion,
serenity, hard work for hunting catla. This is one of the most
distinguished species of carp family which is found only in South-Asian
water bodies. Comparatively big head, big mouth powerful jaws, strong
well built body, powerful fins altogether make this fish a true game

Big Game Angling Competition in Bangladesh!!
Great news for anglers! Like every year
Chittagong is going to host the season’s first tournament in Bangladesh.
It is going to start with a one day on June 01, 2012. Venue is the
famous Veluar Dighi at Pahartoli, Chittagong. The preparation is almost
complete. Anglers are invited to fish there for 12 hours for a nice fair
of only Taka 5500 (US$ 70) for the whole day with maximum of four rods.

The Big Game Angling Competition will be held on June 15, 2012
in the same venue. The winner will be chosen by the highest weighted
fish caught in 12 hours time. The winner will get a prize of Taka
300,000.00 (US$ 3,500.00) cash in hand. The first runner up will get
Taka 150,000.00 (US$ 1750.00) and the second runner up will get Taka
1000,000.00 (US$ 1150.00). There will be fifteen prizes in different
amount. Each angler is allowed to use two rods. Tickets are available
for a fair of Taka 17,500.00 (US$ 220.00) each. Organizers are giving
their best to make this event a success. The venue is very popular among
the club level anglers for its big fishes. Rohu, catla, Mrigal and
Kalibaus (Orange-fin labeo) are the nominated species of the
competition. Competitors will have to reach the venue by 11.00 PM on
June 14, 2012. Seats will be distributed among the competitors at 12.00
AM on June 15, 2012 by an open lottery system in front of all the
competitors. Fishing will start at 04.00 AM. Tickets are available for
booking. Non Bangladeshi anglers are also welcome to participate in this
event to prove their skills over Bangladeshi fishes. The Angling in Bangladesh Team will gladly assist any interested Non-Bangladeshi anglers to participate the Big Game Angling Competition
with airport pickup, hotel booking and guiding though the whole event.

Angling Around Dhaka: Dhaka National Zoo Lake
Dhaka National Zoo Lakes have always been a prime destination for anglers. It consists of two great pristine lakes with great fishes like rohu, catla, mrigal, kalibaus, catfish etc. Anyone can go fishing from 6:00am to 7:00 pm for a fee of 1000 Taka with 3 rods. Ticket for fishing in Dhaka National Zoo Lakes should be booked prior to the angling trip. Inclusion of a helping man is permitted with the same package, that means you can take another person with you in the same cost.
